The NRPC Outreach committee would like to put together 48 of these kits. This sign up genius link lists the items to be included. There will be bins in the narthex for you to place your donations by May 16. The Outreach committee invites you to help put these kits together following worship on May 22. A portion of the kits we put together will be stored here in North Carolina during hurricane season. Thank you for participating in this special opportunity.
The January Outreach Collection is The Women’s Center of Raleigh
The Women’s Center has been assisting homeless women for over 40 years. They provide a safe, low barrier, client-centered and trauma sensitive environment for women, where they can begin the stabilization and healing process. They are agents of community support here to assist women in crisis. The Women’s Center is a multi-service safety and stabilization day center for women. The center works to break the cycle of domestic violence, trauma, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness. They provide basic needs that include meals, use of washers and dryers, showers, hygiene items, clothing, computers, mail service and more. Extended critical services are also accessible to every client such as medical and behavioral healthcare, case management, and job and housing support. Please go to wcwc.org for more information. The Session has approved NRPC working toward becoming a COMMUNITY SPONSOR for an Afghan refugee family through Church World Service!
This means that members of our congregation will work with CWS to support an Afghan family, relocating to our area, as they strive toward self-sufficiency and sustainability. The team’s time commitment will be 5-15 hours collectively for 4-6 months. Some of the ways we will support the family are: *Securing and furnishing housing *Providing basic needs assistance and financial support *Supporting self-sufficiency goals like practicing English and getting a job Thanks to the generosity of congregation the funds for our sponsorship are already available, and Church World Service will provide guidance and additional help for us all along the process. To be a part of this team, individuals will go through a background check with Church World Service, participate in a 2 hour training, and show proof of a COVID vaccination. What an amazing opportunity this will be for our family of faith! Everyone in the congregation will have the chance to provide help for our family to some way—if you are interested in being a part of the team which directly works with our family, please contact Becky Pyrch at beckypyrch@gmail.com.  NRPC is inviting you to buy Christmas gifts for some of the nearly 600 children in foster care in Wake County. You can either pick an Angel off the Angel Tree in the Narthex or Sign Up for and Angel online.

Place them either under the Narthex Angel Tree or drop them off to the Faith Ministries Bldg (FMB) on these dates below with a tag including : 1) name 2) age 3) social worker’s name on the tag. Drop off Dates: Sunday, Nov 28 or Dec 5 from 11:30 am – 1 pm We deliver the gifts to Wake County HHS on Monday, Dec 6. Thank you for participating in this special ministry to bring cheer to these children! Outreach Collection: North Raleigh Ministries needs donation to complete holiday meals for their clients. They supply the hams and turkeys but rely on donations for pantry staple items to make these meals complete. We will be asking for donations starting this Sunday through November 14. Look for collection bins in the Faith Ministries Building.

NRPC 3rd annual WALK FOR HUNGER: Sunday, October 31 at Blue Jay Point Sate Park. A lovely walk through the woods will provide the opportunity for some fun and safe fellowship and support a very important ministry AND you can wear your Halloween costume!!
Walk will start at 1:30—we will begin gathering at 1:00pm so we can all start together!! Snacks and prizes will be provided at the finish of the walk!! Sign Ups begin this Sunday at the table in the narthex, or by the sign in table at outside worship, or outside the FMB at other events. Everyone is encouraged to participate—even pets are welcome. If you are not able to get to church to sign up please contact Janet Livengood. Can’t participate?? You can sponsor another walker. Information on how to sponsor a walker is available at the signup table. The money raised will go to CHURCH WORLD SERVICE for their STOP HUNGER programs which support hunger relief programs locally and internationally. Note in the Pocket Socktober: The youth group is holding a sock and underwear drive this October! All donations will go to Note in the Pocket -- a non-profit organization that provides clothes to impoverished children in Wake County. Starting on Sunday, October 10th, the youth group will be collecting brand new and in-the-package socks and underwear in all sizes (infant through adult) before and after church. If you don't have the chance to purchase these items, donations will be accepted, and the youth group will go buy socks and underwear together. Youth group members, remember to bring your donations to youth group!!  |
